Okay, so the bracketed Japan bumps were for Saturday only, correct? I have a recording from 7/31/04 that has them. (What's better is the Sealab bumps from that night, just cuz we don't ever see them :) ) Scratch that, I have some on Monday 7/5/04 :P were some designated weekday vs. Saturday?

http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/2328 I think this is dated incorrectly... I dug up an old listing that MrHang did that made it sound like this first aired in May 2005. (Listing posted below) I get the feeling all the unknowns on this list were new at the time, we know most if not all of them now. However, this wasn't the first wave of AcTN bumps. So far the earliest I've seen is Jan. 2005 - This guy (http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/1)

Know the last post was a bit ago, but I've just been catching up.  I really like this thread--nostalgia train full speed ahead.  Regarding the bumps, if still inclined to keep this active, a time for the start of the tilt-shift bumps and the programming schedule/lineup bumps would be nice additions.

Was this thread started as a piggyback of another thread or project, or just to put it out there?  I'll offer to compile the posts into one or two timelines (bump timeline and/or programming timeline) to keep this going if the forumgoers would like.

Again, really like this thread.

Captain Starwind started this thread over here: http://www.bumpworthy.com/forum/index.php/topic,1819.msg11635.html#msg11635
just as I felt like I had five seconds to breathe and it stirred up that stewing desire to do this. Then I got slammed with yet another event that caused me to check-out for a month :P Bottom line for me is I have too many irons in the fire... I usually do. I just feel like we have enough people here who could really do this justice in terms of accuracy. If you want to spearhead the compilation that would be fantastic! I suggest whatever method you choose be easily edited ;) I understand the value of tossing vague guesses into the mix but when a more concrete answer becomes available we'll need to update :)

As for the tilt-shift, I'm gonna guess May 2007 for now - I found a post I made on 6/3/2007 (http://boards.adultswim.com/t5/General-Adult-Swim-Discussion/OFFICIAL-Adult-Swim-Music-III/m-p/36382823#M588037) about them, and I know I didn't know anything about the technique when they started airing.

Now I'm back too!

I'm pretty sure that's correct, at least from my looking at it.  Thursdays were just the repeat nights anyway, so when Adult Swim got Saturday they traded the Thursday reruns for new content on Saturday.

I reread the thread, looking to see if any summarization/compilation would be helpful.  I don't think I noticed during my first reading, Numy, that you were updating the first post with the bump info added later in the thread.  As such, I don't see any other real housekeeping needed, and I think keeping the bump timeline and programming timelines distinct reads better.  I'll keep watching for additions, and if later any help is needed, I'll be glad to contribute.

Since I have very little information about what the bumps themselves were, I'll contribute what I can to the Adult Swim timeline: show and schedule information.  A couple years ago I compiled a word document that listed the action schedules, down to actual episode airings, for each night of Adult Swim from September 2001 up through Toonami's revival in May 2012.  After fact checking and air date checking online, I think I can say that it's accurate with pretty good certainty, though I'm always open to ways I can check my facts.

As such, I'll post here now just some general show information about the action shows/anime prior to the Toonami revival.  I know I posted some of this before, but honestly it's easier to do it this way than the way I was doing it previously:

Sorry for posting on year old thread but here are some dates starting from 2005 mostly pertaining to AcTN and Graphic bumps.  To be honest, I don't really pay attention to text bumps.  I also really didn't watch adult swim until late 2005.

April 2004 - Saturday Adult Swim returns, Animatrix, Inuyasha, FLCL, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Witch Hunter Robin, and others get videos of locations in japan.  These bumps usually said (insert show here) is next, will be back, is back, is complete.

The majority of these ran until 2007-2008 with some being aired again in 2009 after the Super Deluxe and Gametap promos stopped coming on. Saturday and Weekday listings were different. no more separate age 14 and 17 Advisory screens, current, generic disclaimer begins and is shortened to 10 seconds.  The reason for this change was unknown.  I liked the big Advisory logo, as a kid I knew I was going to watch something epic and not for kids.
"Adult Swim may contain mature material that may not be suitable for some viewers"

June 16, 2007?
Tilt Shift AcTN bumps first aired and replaces all bumps after 12 AM (this includes the 2 tokyo bumps still on) Some of these bumps aired on weekdays by replacing some May 2005 bumps.

Weekdays start at 11 PM, Adult Swim now on Fridays. Monday - Saturday repeats start at 2:30 AM rather than at 2 AM, thus removing the separate 5 AM block which usually had old shows. 2 AM/5:30 AM bump schedule...
- AcTN Traffic 2
- AcTN Satellite
- AcTN Last Chance Saloon

January 2008
Futurama is no longer on Adult Swim,
Separate 5AM slot returns everyday, Sunday repeats start at 1:30 AM rather than 2 AM to have the extra 5 AM block.  Making those 2006 1:30 AM bumps not air anymore.  This means that Anime is once again aired on Sundays (Astro Boy at 5:30 AM) which hasn't happened since starting at 10 PM in 2005.

Feb 2008
Saturdays from 11 PM to 12:30 AM now use weekday text bumps due to the "Not Sucking Saturdays" as called in a promo.

March 10, 2008
Sadly, no more weekday AcTN except Friday for a while.  This means bumps are replaced with some Tilt Shift Atlanta bumps from 2006 and also some new bumps...
- One Way
- Baggage Room
- 3
- Swimbound
- Adult Swim is Our Friend on Dumpster

May 2008
No more tilt shift AcTN or Text bumps on Saturdays.  New 5 second b/w cutout bumps appear
- Pink Wall stare
- Medical Arts Chat
- Cat Elevator,
- Car Wash Chat,
- Graffiti wall chat,
- Clothing Shop chat
- Will Call chat,
- Water Tower Chat,
- Town Of Trucks,
- Bike on Sidewalk,
- Brick Wall stare,
- Alley,
- Bridge Street,
- Closed Theater

Inuyasha bumps based on Inuyasha movie marathon bumps...
- Inuyasha
- Kagome
- Miroku
- Sesshomaru

Misc
- Traffic (5 second version)
- AcTN Last Chance Saloon v2 (5 seconds with different song)

June 2008
No more separate 5AM block on Weekdays dead, back to 2:30AM repeats except that 2AM and 5:30AM bumps and show were different.  11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 final bump slot was changed to an "All times and Music Eastern" Programming Schedule.

July 14, 2008
Parental Advisory logo returns only for 11PM show after changing from Cartoon Network in the Nood era.  It was the 17+ version which was slightly wider.

September 2008
For the first time, new premiers are shown during the 5am slot usually reserved for old cartoons.

Dec 26, 2008
Adult Swim starts at 10pm everyday.  Saturday uses Weekday bumps now.  King of the Hill appears and has it's own bumps with sponsors of various locations in the show like Staubach Elementary School, etc.  King of the Hill had it's own bumps until 2014 though the bumps changed throughout the years.
Saturdays also stop having regular repeat blocks, making shows only appear once.  The bump schedule did repeat as usual after 3 AM.

Late 2009
King of The Hill now airs a repeat at 5am rather than 2am like usual.  This tradition holds up today.

January 31, 2010?
(I didnt watch Adult Swim much that year so I can't say much about it, I watched Nick at Nite that year more often as I didn't really like how [as] was turning) - 2005-2009 bumps not used anymore.  New 5 second (lackluster) graphic bumps...
- AS We Are Computers
- AS Past Your Future
- AS and You Sailboat
- Do Not Fold, Spindle, or Mutilate
- A Series of Tubes
- Always Record
- Adult Swim Presents Commercials for your Money Love

Also new Graphic schedule bumps instead of the plain black and white ones.

May 31, 2010
Blue Adult Swim is Your Friend returns as sign off bump everyday.  Some of the bunps aired between commercial breaks and sometimes there were no bumps at the beginning of a show.  The no bump tradition went until 2014 when the 9pm "promo style bumps" finished.  New Advisory screen (Start Advisory 2010)

Halloween 2010 - Bumps are now HD

December 27, 2010 - 9PM start time, loads of new bumps taken from stock footage and promo bits like Off the Air (Clown Kids, Flip's Tips, Owl mask people, various Animals, old lady on old PC, etc)  Bumps are aired in a set order but not nightly like before since there were so many.  There were 2 sets, Set 1 was aired 9PM to 11PM, 1:30AM, and 5-6AM.  Set 2 aired 3:30AM to 5AM with the exception of King of the Hill which had new yellow sponser bumps.  New bumps (Fax Machine, Indian music video, Rainbow Dinosaur, etc) were thrown into the rotation throughout the next few years until 2014.  Sign on around this time used a nightly program schedule, later changing to a Pac Man style schedule in September 2011.  On Saturdays, the only bumps were these until 2012.  The last bumps in this style were in mid 2014 (Cactus, and Blurry Business people)

May 26, 2012 - After being shown for April Fools 2012 (which i missed ) Toonami is back and replaces AcTN on Saturdays and has its own bumps similar to how it was in the Cartoon Network toonami era, with an announcer and all bumps pertain to the show that is on.  It is actually treated like a block.  It also has it's own disclaimer.  Toonami's look changes periodically. For example, It was red at first then changed to blue in late 2012.

Fall 2012 - New Sign on bumps (Buy Adult Swim, Watching Is Better than Living, and Let us go Forward Together) all done in the older late 2000's Adult Swim style, static images with minimal animation or movement.

March 31, 2014 - 8PM start time.  Current style hidden logo bumps begin, New disclaimer that changes nightly.  Bumps are changed seasonally and air randomly throughout 8-11PM, 1:30AM and 5-6AM.  Set 2 of the 9PM expansion bumps still aired at 4-5AM until late 2014.  King of The Hill does not get its own bumps this time.  The bumps are similar to how they were in the late 2000's in which it is of a set location, except now they are videos with an Adult Swim logo hidden somewhere, sometimes they move throughout the image or they are a shadow.

July 2014 (Not exactly sure when) - New Adult Swim sign off video done with a star spangled banner instrumental and announcer says "This now concludes our broadcast day, thanks for watching Adult Swim."  Instead of this being a bump, it is now shown right before Cartoon Network starts.  The video changed in Fall 2014 to the one used now.

More to come..................... Swim on..............

Thanks for the effort put into your post, atombomb horse.  I don't mind a bit that it is an oldish thread, your post was a nice nostalgia walk for me.

I will keep editing with more old bump listings.  bump history.  I found some old Adult Swim tapes on the internet archive.  From this same era and will add listings to here, as well as listings i remember or recorded on a tape from this time period.  Not much text bumps, mostly long running lists like weekday AcTN or Graphic bumps.

Dec 2004 or Jan 2005? - 1st set of AcTN 15 second long Scrolling bumps (Bear in Forest, Bear w/ Chainsaw Film Reel, Bull Film Reel, Sad Face Film Reel, Come Along Friend, Inuyasha Fun Start Soon Now, Full Metal Alchemist Baloons and Scroll, Super Milk Chan bumps, 25 cents AcTN, Dog Hit By Arrow) (I'm just going by listings I remember from the Boards Adult Swim website, I never seen any of these on TV.)  There was also a few Futurama bumps that aired only on Saturdays until late 2005 (bender shadow, fry's head, evil bender, atomic bender).

I have a date of confirmation for these bumps appearing: the night of January 8, 2005.

Do you know what the bump order was around that time on weekdays for the actn shows were?  Or the bump order from Jan 8, 2005?  I would like to put them on the bump listings page i posted to recently with old AcTN bumps.  What about the ones from the Bleach Marathon in New Years Eve 2006 or regular saturday bumps from 2006-2007?

I have very little information about what the bumps themselves were; I determined the date itself by using Toonzone forum posts to narrow it down.  I can give some information about the bumps for the Saturday shows, but only based on context clues given in forum posts.  I have absolutely no information about the bumps used for weekdays; I'll just have to wait for a video(s) of weekday [as] recorded around this time to surface.

Fullmetal Alchemist (12:00 AM/3:00 AM)
Card 1: FMA Japanese Scroll w/ Balloons (Confirmed as existing at the time; nothing else makes sense to go here.)
Card 2: N/A
Card 3: N/A
Card 4: Blue Film Reel (confirmed based on music mentioned in forum post)

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (12:30 AM/3:30 AM)
Card 1: Bear in the Forest ACTN (confirmed from visuals mentioned in forum post)
Card 2: N/A
Card 3: N/A
Card 4: Bull Film Reel

As for your other questions (Bleach and 2006-2007), I can't answer either right now.  The only thing that can really help now is, like I said above, videos from the era coming up online.
